Otto's Free App Blocker

A free alternative to Lock Me Out

Lock Me Out has the hardest lockouts on Android and it is Android only. Its free tier caps how many lockouts you can have and leaves out uninstall protection, which is the feature most people install it for.

Lock Me Out is Android only. Its developer confirms a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription and a one-time purchase, but does not publish the prices on its site and Google Play does not show them in a way that can be checked here, so this page does not quote a figure. The free tier caps the number of lockouts and excludes uninstall protection, location-based lockouts and notification hiding.

Where Lock Me Out is the better buy

Uninstall protection is the honest answer to the oldest hole in every app blocker, Otto's included: you can delete the app. Lock Me Out makes that hard, adds lockouts triggered by unlock counts and by where you are, and has a decade of Android-specific work behind it. If you have already uninstalled one blocker in a weak moment, pay for this one.

Where Otto is the better fit

Otto runs on both stores, has no capped tier and no price to look up, and adds a daily budget and greyscale. It will not stop you deleting it. Nothing free will.

This is one of fourteen paid app blockers compared side by side on the alternatives page. There is also a guide to cutting phone use covering the setup no app does for you.

Otto is free, on both stores

No paid tier, no trial that expires, no account. There is a tip jar in the settings and that is the whole business model.
